Gingerbread House 2026

For more than 35 years, ArkDes has invited children, young people, adults, amateurs, and professionals to showcase their gingerbread creations at the museum on Skeppsholmen.

Tradition meets playfulness as ArkDes presents the most fragrant exhibition of the Christmas season. Building with gingerbread dough is a fun way to explore architecture and design. Gingerbread bakers find creative solutions for construction, durability, functionality, and decoration—just like architects and designers do in real life.

More than an exhibition

The way participants interpret this year’s theme is a key element, as Gingerbread House is not just a showcase for creative gingerbread designs—it’s also a competition.

Participants compete in three categories:

• Architects, designers, and bakers
• Up to 12 years old
• Everyone else who bakes

A jury selects one winner in each category. Entries are judged on construction, design, edibility, and connection to the theme. Additionally, the Public Prize is awarded to the creation that receives the most votes from the public.
