About the exhibition

For over 30 years, ArkDes has invited children, young people, adults, amateurs, and professionals to showcase their gingerbread creations at the museum on Skeppsholmen.

Building with gingerbread dough is a playful way to explore architecture and design. Gingerbread bakers find creative solutions for construction, durability, functionality, and decoration—just like architects and designers do in real life.

Gingerbread House 2025

The countdown begins! Soon it’s time for the popular exhibition Gingerbread House 2025 at ArkDes. Each year, the exhibition attracts thousands of visitors and encourages both young and old, amateurs and professionals to unleash their creativity and build imaginative creations in gingerbread dough, displayed throughout the holiday season. Are you one of this year’s exhibitors?

More than an exhibition

The way participants interpret this year’s theme is a key element, as Gingerbread House is not just a showcase for creative gingerbread designs—it’s also a competition.

Participants compete in three categories:

  • Architects, designers, and bakers
  • Up to 12 years old
  • Everyone else who bakes

A jury selects one winner in each category. Entries are judged on construction, design, edibility, and connection to the theme. Additionally, the Public Prize is awarded to the creation that receives the most votes from the public.
