About the exhibition

Since 1990, for over 30 years, you’ve been able to visit a unique and fragrant exhibition of imaginative gingerbread houses at ArkDes. Creating a structure out of gingerbread dough is a playful way to explore architecture and design. The gingerbread bakers find creative solutions for construction, sustainability, functionality, and decoration—just like architects and designers do in real life.

The Gingerbread House Exhibition is not just a place where we showcase home bakers’ creative gingerbread houses, but also a competition where children, young people, adults, amateurs, and professionals build and create side by side.

There are three categories to compete in:

• Architects, designers, and bakers
• Up to 12 years old
• Everyone else who bakes

A winner is selected in each category by a jury. In addition, the Public Prize is awarded to the entry that receives the most votes from the public.
